J. Hunter Pearls Fiji grades our pearls into four main categories:

Gem - Surface is perfect and lustre is very high. This pearl is extremely rare.

Grade A - Very few small surface irregularities.

Grade B - Several irregularities, but most of the pearl is clear.

Grade C - Many noticeable irregularities.

Only 1-2 percent of all pearls are Gem and Grade A quality, emphasising the great rarity of these special natural gems.
