In 1999, Justin Hunter established Fiji’s largest commercial pearl farm.

J. Hunter Pearls Fiji maintains a close working relationship with the indigenous people of Savusavu. We ensure that our farm operation works in harmony with the sea, without threatening the marine life and resources.

Traditionally black-lipped pearl oysters are produced in the atolls of French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. Pearling was regarded as their “darkest” secret, alluding to the lengths they would go to in order to protect this secretive industry.  Justin Hunter has brought his expertise in aquaculture to Fiji where J. Hunter Pearls Fiji Ltd is now an up and coming player on the world pearl market, producing pearls in colours not traditionally harvested from the black-lipped pearl oyster.
